PBMF Group Advertising Assignment (Test Grade!)- 4th 6 Weeks Week 4 

Overview
Your  group is a creative team at a small advertising agency (you have a similar role to the Song team, Dr Rapaille, Frank Luntz in the Persuaders documentary – you need to figure out how to persuade people to buy your product). Your team will  create a PowerPoint presentation to present to your classmates who are th  marketing department of a company for whom you are pitching to design an ad  campaign. (Please note part of your grade will be based on feedback from this marketing department!).
1.     Your group will choose a product (that really exists) for which to create a marketing campaign that is aimed at teens. 
a.       Give the name of the product, company who produces it, briefly explain its purpose and use to teens. Please include a picture (1 slide. 5
points)
2..  You are required to market this product to teens (just like you) via 3 different media. Refer to the article on teen media use that you read for your Chapter 14 individual assignment in your explanation. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/jul/13/teenage-media-habits-morgan-stanley

2. Choose 3 of the following mediaand explain why you believe these would be the most effective 3 considering your target market and the product. 
b.     For each media describe specifically where you would place your ads, as explained below.
c.      Explain why you did not select the remaining channels. (4 slides total. 1 per each channel chose, 1 slide explaining why other channels were not used. 30 points)
a)    Internet, (which websites/search engines)
b)    Newspaper or magazine (specify publication names)
c)     Public transport (specify bus, train, airports, or all of the above)
d)   TV (on which network, during which shows)
e)    Direct mail
f)     Point of purchase displays (specify in which stores).
g)    Radio (on which station/shows, you may include internet radio (Pandora, Spotify etc)
h)   Billboard (specify locations)
i)      Smart phone advertising (e.g. by text, using an app, advertising in other apps)

3.     Write a slogan for your product. Remember from the Persuaders that it is the perception of the product, rather than what it’s really like, that sells a product (Power companies, politicians)!    Need inspiration?  Google advertising slogans, you will find many pages showing some more memorable ones.  Also, consider the words used to describe your favorite product.
a.      Explain briefly why you chose this slogan. (1 slide. 5 points)

4.  Including your slogan in each advertisement, design an advertisement for each of the 3 channels. Remember when you are creating your advertisements what made the advertisements in your Chapter 14 individual assignment memorable to you. 
a.      If you choose a print or internet ad, you should create the ad using Publisher, Word or PowerPoint. If you choose a TV or radio ad, you should act them out as a role play during your presentation or provide storyboards to be talked through. 
  b.    After each advertisement you will include a slide stating what  makes the ad memorable and how and it appeal to your target market of teens. (At least 3 slides, 40 points)

5. Do not forget you must present in a professional manner (see PowerPoint
guidelines
) Up to 15 points will be taken off your total for unprofessional presentation

6.   Do not forget to  cite your sources. – failure to do so will result in a zero

Extra credit - Find out (as best you can) how much it would cost to run an advertisement via each of your chosen channels.

4th 6 Weeks – Week 3- Chapter 14  Individual Assignment

 Read the above article about teenage media  habits.  It was written by an  intern at the investment bank Morgan Stanley, in the UK.  Answer the following questions. (50 points - 5 paragraphs)
a. Do you agree with this report?  Why/why not?
b. Does it give an accurate picture of your own media habits?  If not, please explain. 
c. Does it give an accurate picture of your peers’ media habits?   If not please explain
d. How would this influence a person who wishes to successfully design an advertisign campaign aimed at teenagers?
e. Note that this report is nearly 3 years old, what, if anything do you think has changed since this  report?

 2) Consider adverts that you have seen... (50 points - 5 paragraphs)
a.  Identify 5 memorable ones.  Name the product and briefly describe the advert.
b. What made the advert memorable to you?
c. Who do you think was their target market?
d. How did the advert appeal to its target market?
e.  Did you go out and buy the product after seeing the advert?  Why/Why not?

Overview
You will choose a product  that  you use and/or buy regularly and analyze the marketing of it in terms of the concepts studied in Chapter 13. 
Answer the below questions and provide the following details about the product and the marketing activity required for the product.  You may base your answers on your own experience/opinion and online research for items you are unsure of.

 1)     What is the product name, who is it made by and what is its purpose?  Why do you like/use this product? (You may include a picture if you wish) (20 points, 1-2 paragraphs)

 2)  Using  the textbook, define marketing concept?  What do you think is the marketing concept for this product? (20 points, 1-2 paragraphs)
